Haitian interim Prime Minister Gerard Latortue Tuesday formed a new government, more than two weeks after ousted President Jean-Bertrand Aristide fled his country.

The new cabinet consists of 13 members, including two women, But it excluded from the cabinet those members of Lavalas Family party of Aristide.

Latortue's aides presented a name list of the new cabinet afterLatortue talked with interim President Boniface Alexandre at the National Palace. It is unclear when Alexandre will announce the list formally.

Aristide wend into exile in the Central African Republic (CAR) on Feb. 29 amid a popular uprising led by rebels aimed at topplingthe former president.

Aristide has repeatedly accused the United States of masterminding a coup d'etat that forced him from power. But the United States denied the accusation, saying they organized Aristide's departure at his request.

Aristide spent two weeks in the CAR before returning to the Caribbean area after neighboring Jamaica offered him up to 10 weeks' visit to reunite with his two daughters and to decide on a permanent home in exile.

Jamaica's decision infuriated Haiti's new government because itfeared that presence of Aristide, a former slum priest, in a country only 185 km away from Haiti's shores might galvanize his supporters at home.

Haiti withdrew its ambassador from Jamaica and temporarily suspended its membership in the Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM) on Monday.

On Tuesday, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez offered asylum to Aristide and said Venezuela did not recognize Haiti's new government.
