The military convoy was on its way to Wana, the capital of South Waziristan tribal area, for logistic support to the troops cordoning seven targets in the South of Wana when it was attacked by some 60 to 70 militants.

Military Spokesman Major General Shaukat Sultan said the troopswere injured and taken by the miscreants. "They were killed in cold blood and point blank range by the miscreants and this is theworst example of terrorism and inhuman behavior," he said.

The bodies of the soldiers were recovered by local tribal men, said the spokesman, adding "the killers deserve no sympathies and their fate has to be uncovered in front of the public."

"We are thankful to the Mehsood Tribe, who have found these dead bodies. Mehsood Tribe has to apprehend the culprits as well,"Sultan said.

Some 6,000 troops of Pakistan Army and paramilitary have cordoned the seven targets in the south of Wana since March 18 to flush out foreign militants as well as those who provided them with shelter.

On March 16, some 15 troops of Frontier Constabulary were killed in the shootout with the militants in Shin Warsak, Azam Warsak and Kaloosha.

The military spokesman however did not give the number of totallife loss of the troops during the last 8-day scuffle with the militants.

Some 163 foreign and local miscreants have been arrested and over 35 killed in the assault so far. The tribal jirga of Zilikheil, engaged for cease-fire in the vicinity, failed and returned Thursday as the militants headed by Nek Mohammad of Yargul Kheil tribe refused to surrender.

The government wants them to surrender immediately, to hand over 14 troops and officials captured on March 16 and to hand overall the foreign terrorists and miscreants.
