Boeing hopes to produce, operate 7E7 aircraft with China

Boeing and China will produce andoperate the new generation of 7E7 aircraft together, said Alan Mullaly, CEO and president of Boeing civil aviation group, on Sunday.

Boeing and China will produce and operate the new generation of 7E7 aircraft together, said Alan Mullaly, CEO and president of Boeing civil aviation group, on Sunday.

He noted that the essential parts of approximately 3,400 Boeing aircraft in service worldwide today were assembled in China, occupying one-third of the whole Boeing fleet.

China's role in Boeing production was also rising. Boeing's total purchases of aviation material in China has reached 500 million US dollars and is expected to total 1.3 billion US dollars by 2010. Through such cooperation, Boeing and China can share knowledge and techniques, he said.

He said Boeing hoped to lay foundations for strengthening cooperation, including producing and operating 7E7 aircraft. The common goal for both sides is to have the 7E7 in production before the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.

With 32 years of cooperation, Boeing has trained some 24,000 aviation personnel for China. China's airline companies now operate 450 Boeing planes, taking up nearly 70 percent of China's aviation market shares.
