A representative of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas announced Thursday that the Palestinian dialogue would be resumed next week in Gaza City to reach a united Palestinian position.

"The dialogue would be deep and focus on forming a united leadership and finding a common political ground in taking national decisions," Said Syam said.

He added his movement had finalized its plan that was aimed atorganizing and administrating the Gaza Strip in case of an Israeli evacuation, which Ahmed Yassin, spiritual leader of Hamas, had contributed before his assassination on March 22.

"Our plan is ready but wasn't presented to the other factions due to the latest developments in the territories and the Israeli assassination of Sheikh Yassin, but we will present the plan to the factions in order to discuss it," Syam said.

He explained the plan is based on the political cooperation between different factions in order to protect the Palestinian people's interests and preserve their achievements and unity.

"The plan works on preventing law trespassing or any other formof offence that harms our national achievements. There is also another plan that would be used as a common ground for the Palestinian dialogue in the West Bank," he said.

Syam asserted Hamas' intention to join the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), saying that the movement wanted to join the Palestinian institutions such as the Palestinian National Council(PNC).

However, he added Hamas intended to work effectively through these institutions, saying "we don't want be just a number among the other factions, that's why we need to re-organize the PLO in accordance with the current changes."

On the question of the delay in the movement's response to the assassination of Yassin, he said, "This crime would not pass by without punishment, but the response isn't necessarily linked to aspecific timing."

He added the nature and timing of the response depend entirely on Al-Qassam Brigades, the movement's military wing, saying thatthe conflict with the Israeli occupation is open and is notrestricted by time.
