Li Peng Meets With Macao Chief Executive
����NPC Chairman Li Peng met in Beijing May 25 with Edmund Ho Hau Wah, who has been appointed the first Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).
����Li said that the appointment means that Macao will enter a new period under the "one country, two systems" and "Macao people governing Macao" principles and with a high degree of autonomy, as written in the Basic Law of the Macao SAR.
����Li said that the Basic Law will be fully implemented after the regional government is established on December 20 and that the NPC will support the Chief Executive in his work.
����Ho said that he will work hard for the successful implementation of the "one country, two systems" policy and for the long-term stability and development of Macao. (Xinhua)
