Diplomats Commemorate Africa Liberation Day in Beijing

����Diplomatic envoys from African countries gathered at the Algerian embassy in China May 25 to celebrate the African Liberation Day and the 36th anniversary of the establishment of the Organization of African Unity (OAU).

����Chinese Vice-Premier Qian Qichen said in a speech that over the past 36 years, the OAU has played an important role in striving for African countries' political liberation, maintaining unity of African countries and promoting peace and stability in the continent and stepping up regional cooperation and development.

����The Chinese government and people have always supported Africa's struggle for liberation, which cemented the friendship between Chinese and African peoples, he noted, adding that the Chinese people and African people should join hands in forging a new 21st century-oriented partnership featuring long-term stability, equality and mutual benefit, all-round cooperation and common development.
