Why Does the US Always Bring Disgrace to Itself?

* By Commentator Bo Wen

 The United States of America is a great county. But I don't know the reason: Why does it always bring disgrace to itself?

 On May 7, night, the US used five missiles in attacking the Chinese Embassy in the capital of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Belgrade. But it has not acted in the way as a Chinese saying goes: A brave man must be as good as his words. It should have been brave enough to vouch for its outrageous bombing, as it has done, of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade. It shouldn't have resorted to playing bopeep about things by indulging in the sophistry that is an "error" of air strike and that it is because of an outdated map that has been used by its intelligence. But how could an outdated map have been used by a country like the US, a country that is most powerful, most rich and most developed, known to the world? An excuse is because of insufficiencies of military budget. But this has drawn great derision and sneered at by all clear-headed and peace-loving people throughout the world. How can the US with its most sophisticated war command be in a position that it can not afford for a new military map in directing an aggressive war?

Trying to tyrannize and take complete control of the whole world is the set goal by hegemonists of the US. How could it have been that the US missile attacked the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade becomes an "error" from using an outdated military map? It goes without saying the US will not act on the principle of "human rights transcending sovereignty" to let China check up on the facts in bombing the Chinese Embassy. But all US sophistry deceives no people throughout the world. Anyhow, to cover up its true feature as a hegemonic power the US should have done much greater meticulous and careful work to spin a good story about the war "error" in bombing the Chinese Embassy for its bombing of the nation's Embassy in Yugoslavia is not an ordinary event. It is an atrocity, a horrifying atrocity. It is unprecedented in world history, totally inexcusable by the world people. Things in today's world seem to give no way out for the US but sophistry and indulgences in fabricating stories about its bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Yugoslavia.

The US story to blame its intelligence's use of an outdated military map is by no means accidental or something unpredictable that has undesirably happened. Following its "error" of air strike the US further tried at a new tone and stages it on its propaganda instrument. On May 16, Chinese Ambassador Li Zhaoxing, appearing on NBC's "Meet the Press", said that China wants a complete investigation of the outrageous US bombing of the nation's embassy in Belgrade. But NBC's anchorman Tim Russert lost no time in producing his US amulet. He represented himself as saying that it is "not only the event" (referring demonstrations by the Chinese people in protests against US missile bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade) that has affected the relations between the US and China. According to Russert, the Chinese people should be completely indifferent to killings of their compatriots and bombing of their embassy by the US. Meanwhile, this US NBC anchorman did not forget to quote the "testimony" of Johnny Chung in spinning the story about China's "espionage" and stealing of US high tech in distracting the attention of the American people from US-led NATO's aggressive war and its bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Yugoslavia.

 The so-called illegal monetary donation is typical of the various "Arabian Nights" stories that have been produced by the US though no evidences have yet been and will never be produced. Disregarding its large-scale destruction and killing of innocent people in Yugoslavia and its missile attack on the Chinese Embassy irrespective of all international laws and the norms of international relations between countries, it tries every possible effort to blame others while itself is to be blamed. Is this not a tactic used by a sharp-tongued woman barking out a torrent of abuse in order to get the upper hand?

Still further, let me say something more about the alleged case of illegal monetary donation from China. What is truly behind the story? It was said in the US that China had wanted to give US president-elect a sum of 300,000 US dollars so that it could expect to influence the "politics of US Democracy"

 The United States of America is so rich that we should say a US president-elect needs a sum of over 20 million dollars as his costs in running for presidency in the US and with these added millions of US dollars will have to be used. By the standard of the most advertised politics of "US Democracy", how could a small sum of 300,000 US dollars be enough to buy over a US president-elect? Is it that the US politics are much cheap as that sum of money? Though no ordinary Chinese are familiar with the stories of Christianity yet they know a story about 30 silver coins for Judas that had led to the betrayal of Jesuit. The said 30 silver coins two thousand years ago may become a greater sum of money than today's 300,000 US dollars. This is to say, there is no need now to use 30 silver coins but a much less amount of money that could have bought not only a US president-elect but also the whole of "US Democracy politics". Is that so? Also, does it mean that by the alleged 300,000 US dollars in influencing US election the US president-elect and his "Democracy politics" are not worth that much money?

 Some stalwarts in the United States of America are truly good and of great competence in fabricating stories about China. But they should have been much more thoughtful and make their stories complete. Poor careless stories will not only not work but will also lay these stalwarts open to ridicule and let the world people think: Why does the US always bring disgrace to itself as a great country?
