New Campus of Chinese Opera Institute Inaugurated

An inaugural ceremony was held on September 25 for the new campus of the Chinese Opera Institute in Beijing.

Ding Guangen, head of the Publicity Department of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) Central Committee, Sun Jiazheng, the Chinese Minister of Culture, and other senior officials and noted artists attended the event.

The new campus is located in the Fengtai District in Beijing and boasts all modern equipment for the education of artists. It is one of the 67 projects started by the Beijing Municipality to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the People's Republic of China.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ding Guangen said the new campus shows the Party and the government's support for the development of the Chinese opera, an important part of traditional Chinese arts.

He said he hoped that the institute would educate more opera performers and make a greater contribution to Chinese opera. (Xinhua)
