China's Top 10 Outstanding Youth Announced

����The list of China's top 10 outstanding youth for 1999 was released recently by the organizers of the nationwide search.

����They are:

����-- Ding Rong, a policewoman from the police station at the railway station of Fuzhou city in east China;

����-- Deng Wei, chairman and general manager of the Harbin Yiyang (Group) Co., Ltd., Heilongjiang Province in northeast China;

����-- Liu Yi, the general manager of the Huainan CITIC Xinji Energy Co., Ltd., in Anhui Province in east China;

����-- Lu Yansong, the People's Daily's correspondent in Yugoslavia;

����-- Sun Wen, captain of China's national women's football team which won the silver medal at this year's World Cup for women football tournament;

����-- Wu Qinxiu, a graduate of the Beijing University who is now the party chief of Shimen Village, Lianyuan City in central China' s Hunan Province;

����-- Zhang Rong, a farmer and soldier's wife at Beiyu Village, Xixia county of Henan Province in central China;

����-- Zhang Qingwei, a rocket expert and deputy manager of the China Space Technology Group;

����-- Li Hongtao, a mechanic serving in China's army aviation troops; and

����-- Hou Xinmin, a teacher from the Hope Primary School of Xiepo Village, Zhangxian County, in Gansu Province, northwest China.

����The 10 winners were selected from among 55 candidates out of 35 institutions nationwide.

����This year's event is the 10th organized by the China Youth Development Foundation and 10 major media organizations in the Chinese capital.

����The 10 are expected to be honored at a grand ceremony set for November this year. (Xinhua)
