Chief of Macao SAR Appoints Executive Council

����Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive-designate of the future Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), has appointed 10 members of his Executive Council, according to a press release issued on September 25 by his office.

����The 10 members include Vitor Ng, Ma Iao Lai, Tong Chi Kin, Leong Heng Teng, Fernando Chui Sai On, Florinda da Rosa Silva Chan, Cheong Kuok Va, Liu Chak Wan, Ao Man Long and Francis Tam Pak Un.

����The Macao Basic Law stipulates that the Executive Council shall be an organ for assisting the chief executive in policy-making and its members shall be chosen from principal government officials, legislators and public figures.

����Among the 10 members chosen by Edmund Ho, five are the heads of leading departments of the Macao SAR government, three SAR legislators and two social celebrities.

����China will resume the exercise of sovereignty over Macao on December 20 this year, when the Macao SAR of China will be set up and Edmund Ho and other SAR officials will be sworn in. (Xinhua)
