Egypt, Libya to Join Uganda-Sudan Talks

Egypt and Libya are to join the Atlanta-based Carter Center in a bid to help normalize relations between Sudan and Uganda, the New Vision daily reported on Saturday.

Ministers from the four countries will meet in Kampala in August with officials of the center, which was set up by former U. S. President Jimmy Carter, according to the report.

They would discuss a long-standing dispute between Khartoum and Kampala over accusations that each is supporting the other's rebel movement, Sudanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ali Abdel Rahman Nimeiri said.

The four-party talks would also discuss implementation of an accord brokered by Jimmy Carter and signed by Presidents Omar al- Beshir of Sudan and Yoweri Museveni of Uganda in Nairobi, Kenya, last December, he said.
