China's Ma Mingyu Joins Perugia on Loan

Midfield international Ma Mingyu is set to become the first Chinese player in Serie A after joining Perugia on loan, the club said in Perugia on Wednesday.

A Perugia spokesman said: "Ma signed a one-year contract worth 464,600 U.S. dollars a few days ago. We're expecting him to arrive in Italy tomorrow or the day after."

Perugia, who gave celebrated Japanese international Hidetoshi Nakata his big break two seasons ago, have made several forays into Asian soccer markets this northern summer.

The club bought South Korean midfielder Ahn Jung-hwan last month and have also signed 22-year-old Iranian midfielder Mohamed Ali Karimi on loan for one season.

Ahn Jung-hwan and Karimi were due to make their debuts for Perugia in a triangular tournament against Sicilian side Catania and former Italian champions Napoli on Thursday.
