The 23rd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Transportation Working Group Meeting was launched here Monday.
Experts in aviation safety, satellite navigation and communication, and road safety discussed how to promote aviation safety, liberalization and strengthen regional cooperation.
In recent years, China's transportation achieved great progress in terms of safety, efficiency and environment-friendly aspects. Passenger turnover in railway, highway and aviation all rose dramatically compared with 10 years ago, said Yang Yuanyuan, director of the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China.
The goal of APEC in the transportation field is to build an integrated, safe, efficient and environment-friendly transportation system among all economies, which should strengthen cooperation in order to promote economic prosperity, said US National Highway Traffic Safety Administrator Jeffrey W. Runge.
Experts said the meeting will demonstrate the achievements of China in transportation in the last 10 years, and strengthen transportation cooperation between China and other Asia-Pacific nations.
Founded in 1991, APEC Transportation Working Group aims to promote liberalization and economic cooperation. The meeting normally takes place twice a year.
