font size

British Foreign Office said Wednesday that British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw would meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi on Thursday for talks that would focus on Iran's nuclear programs.

Straw is scheduled to meet Kharazi during lunchtime Thursday tocontinue a dialogue on bilateral issues and issues of mutual interest such as Iraq and discussions on Iran's nuclear armaments,a Foreign Office spokeswoman told reporters.

During a trip to Iran's capital of Tehran in last October, Straw, together with his counterparts from France and Germany, helped persuade Iran to cooperate with the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency on inspections of its nuclear programs.

Kharrazi, who comes to London to continue his tour of a series European states, held talks in Paris with French President JacquesChirac Wednesday, when he said instability in Iraq was a threat toIran's security and Iran wants to help make the planned power transfer in Iraq a success.
