China launched first offshore wind power project

The Guangdong Planning Commission recently approved China's first offshore wind farm power plant project in Nan'ao county in the southeast of Guangdong Province.

The plant, with a total investment of 241.7 million yuan by InfraVest GmbH from Germany, will generate 20,000 kw electricity. It will be put into operation in two years.

Nan'ao, with a sea area of 4,600 square kilometers, is the only sea island in Guangdong.Another two wind farm power projects have also filed application to the provincial government. The county presents a great potential for wind power generation.
