Chinese women's volleyball launches Olympic buildup in May
font size

World Cup champions China will meet Cuba, Poland and Turkey in a four-nation women's volleyball tournament from May 20 to 23 to warm up for the upcoming Olympic Games in May, organizers said Beijing on Wednesday.

This will be the first time for the Chinese women to play in international arena after ending a 17-year world title drought by winning the World Cup in Japan late last year.

The tournament will take place in northeast China's Harbin.

Organizers said that multi-Olympic champions Cuba, Poland and Turkey, last year's European champions and runners-up respectively, will send full-strength teams for the tournament.

China, who won the gold medal in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, will play two world Grand Prix stages held in Switzerland in June and Italy in July.
