Magnitude 5.7 quake hits Northern California

LOS ANGELES, May 23 (Xinhua) -- A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck Northern California on Thursday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake was occurred at around 8:47 p.m. local time (0347 GMT Friday). The epicenter was 11 km northwest of Greenville, some 240 km northeast of California's capital city Sacramento. People in Sacramento Twitted that they felt the quake.

There is no immediate information about damage or casualties.
