Chen Yong meets with Jordanian delegation

BEIJING, April 26, (ChinaMil) -- Chen Yong, assistant to chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met with Ottaalah, head of the National Defense Resources and Investment Management Department of the Jordanian Armed Forces who came to China to attend the third meeting of the Defense Cooperation Committee of the China-Jordan defense ministries, and his party on April 25, 2013 in Beijing.

Chen Yong said that China and Jordan enjoy a time-honored friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries 36 years ago, the bilateral relations have been developed in a sound, steady and smooth manner, as evidenced by frequent high-level reciprocal visits and rapidly growing economic and trade cooperation. The two countries have been supporting and working closely with each other in international and regional affairs. The two militaries have been keeping close contacts among high-level leaders and deepening cooperation in personnel training constantly. And the Defense Cooperation Committee of the China-Jordan defense ministries has provided an effective platform for pushing forward the bilateral exchanges and pragmatic cooperation. It is believed that with the joint efforts from both sides, the friendly and cooperative relations between the two militaries will be constantly promoted to a new high.

Ottaalah said the Jordanian side's condolences for the earthquake disaster in Lushan county of southwest China's Sichuan province and appreciated the active role the Chinese military had played in combating the earthquake and carrying out disaster-relief work. Jordan cherishes its traditional friendship with China and is grateful to China for its support and assistance in recent years.
