SHENYANG, June 5, (ChinaMil) -- With the establishment of a new maintenance support mechanism, in which the military plays a leading role while combining both the military and civilian resources, independent medium-maintenance support has been available ahead of schedule for 17 kinds of IT-based major combat equipment, including self-propelled artillery, new-type tanks in the combat units of the PLA Shenyang Military Area Command (MAC).
"The military maintenance forces know better what the troop units need, so, in setting up a new military-civilian integrated maintenance mechanism, it is a must to let military side takes the leading role and to bring the advantage of military maintenance forces into full play." Gao Chao, director of the Armaments Department of the Shenyang MAC, told PLA Daily.
It is learned that the Armaments Department of the Shenyang MAC has signed up cooperative support agreements with 20-odd civilian organizations, including the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC), China North Industries Group Corporation (NORINCO Group), Shenyang University of Science and Technology, and so on. In addition, the Shenyang MAC has come up with a document stipulating the measures of implementing military-civilian-integrated maintenance support for ordnance and armored equipment.
At present, technical protocols for medium-maintenance and series of maintenance-repair checking machines and tools are all available for the IT-based major combat equipment fielded to the combat units of the Shenyang MAC.
A military-civilian integrated equipment support system dominated by the military equipment supporting forces and supplemented by the national defense industries as well as other social forces has taken shape in the Shenyang MAC.
