China is holding the P5 Conference to facilitate the international security process and maintain world peace and security.

In recent years, fundamental and complicated changes have taken place in the international security landscape. New trends and new issues in the fields of nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation and peaceful use of nuclear energy have emerged. The P5 states (China, France, Russia, the UK and the US), being nuclear-weapon states and also permanent members of the UN Security Council, shoulder an important responsibility for international security related issues. The Chinese vice foreign minister Li Baodong highlighted five aspects of global nuclear governance at the P5 conference: universal security as the fundamental goal, the leadership role of the P5 states as a major driving force, multilateral mechanisms as the central content, balanced progress and consensus as the basic principle, and broad participation as the critical guarantee.
　　
Nuclear policies vary among the P5 states due to different national circumstances. Enhancing global nuclear governance is in the interests of the whole international community, and the shared goal of the P5 states. Like five fingers on one hand, the P5 states can make a powerful fist only by deepening strategic mutual trust, unity, and collaboration. In this way, they will be able to effectively deal with problems in the nuclear field and guide global nuclear governance in the right direction.
