Vietnamese leaders send condolences over quake in China

HANOI, Aug. 5 -- Vietnamese leaders on Monday sent their condolences to their Chinese counterparts over an earthquake in China's southern Yunnan province, the website of Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Tuesday.

After learning that the earthquake occurring in Yunnan province caused heavy losses in human lives and property as well as affected lives of many Chinese people, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung on Monday sent their sympathy over the incident to Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhang Dejiang and citizens in the quake-hit areas.

On the same day, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also offered his condolences to Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and the Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee and the Governor of Yunnan province.
