Pagoda Paris — from an antiques gallery to an antique itself

Location:

8th district in Paris, adjacent to the Parc Monceau. This is the only architecture that is different from others in the city of Paris.

Builder:

Mr. Ching Tsai Loo (1880-1957), a celebrated Chinese collector and dealer of Chinese and Asian art and antiques who came to France in the 19th century.

Uses:

It served as the home of Galerie C.T. Loo & Cie., showcasing an exquisite collection of Chinese and Asian art and antiques. Today, the pagoda continues to be one of the most fascinating buildings in Paris.

"Chinese Pavilion" in Sweden — Built for love

Location:

Ekero, Stockholm 178 02, Sweden

Builder:

King Adolf Fredrik surprised Queen Lovisa Ulrika on her birthday in 1753 with a small Chinese pleasure palace in the Drottningholm Palace park.

Features:

The original wooden building was replaced in the 1760s by a more permanent one, which today contains one of the finest European rococo interiors with chinoiserie.

Huntington, a cultural, research, and educational centers in Southern California.

Builders:

Architects from Suzhou, a Chinese city renowned worldwide for its ancient gardens, worked with Californian builders to produce a traditional Chinese landscape.

Features:

Inspired by the centuries-old Chinese tradition of designing private gardens for scholarly pursuits, Liu Fang Yuan, or the Garden of Flowing Fragrance, combines the scenic beauty of nature with the expressiveness of the arts to give deeper meaning to the landscape. Intricately crafted lattice windows artfully frame objects and scenes. Bridges with hand-carved textures lead to small islands that present striking new images of architectural structures.

Chinatown in London — with the help of a former British prime minister

Location:

Limehouse, the east end of London, about 40,000 Chinese are living here.

Builders:

With the help of a former British Prime minister, the ICE Group Ltd. and the city of Tianjin in China spent $900 million building this Chinatown together.

Features:

Of all the Chinatowns around the world, the London Chinatown is one of the most famous and special ones.
