The 2nd Shaanxi Original Mobile Phone Animation Contest kicks off

In 2013, the Creative Industries Development Center of Xi'an High-tech Industrial Development Zone and Shaanxi Animation and Cartoon Association successfully organized and held 1st Shaanxi Original Mobile Phone Animation Contest, with the intention of deepening the implementation of the task to 'constructing China into a socialist cultural power', a proposal promoted in the report of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), making good use of society's high degree of attention to the animation industry, reinforcing the transmission of animation culture through new media, enhancing the influence, communication power and selling power of Shaanxi's mobile phone animation service and stimulating the development of Shaanxi's animation industry.

The contest last year lasted for half a year, during which 16 promotions and campaigns of various kinds were held and more than 10,000 works selected and sent by the government, operators, enterprises and colleges were on exhibition at the event. 15 excellent entries were recommended by the organization committee to compete in the 'Chinese Dream' fine art works selection held by the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the CPC.

To continue to promote the development of Shaanxi's animation industry, on September 18, 2014, the 2nd Shaanxi Original Mobile Phone Animation Contest was officially launched. The theme of the contest this year is 'Let the Chinese Dream fly, inherit spirits of the Silk Road and conduct the core socialist values'.

The contest this year was jointly organized and held by Xi'an National Digital Publishing Base, Xi'an National Culture and Technology Integration Demonstrative Base, China Mobile Phone Animation Base, China Mobile Communications Corporation Shaanxi Co. Ltd, Shaanxi Animation and Cartoon Association and the Creative Industries Development Center of Xi'an High-tech Industrial Development Zone. It was undertaken by Xi'an Xinkun Tech Co. Ltd and was sponsored by BesTV New Media Co Ltd exclusively.

People can contribute works from September 18, 2014 to January 18, 2015. Art works should be created under the theme of the Silk Road culture and core socialist values and based on new media and mobile media presenting in the form of animation and cartoon to carry forward new healthy trends and uprightness. An online fee charging function will be enabled, as the contest specially cooperates with the China Mobile. And the earnings of this function, mainly through uploading and downloading art works, will be paid back to all contestants.

Awards comprise three categories: cartoon, animation and digital derivatives. The winning prizes of every category are divided into the first prize (one winner, prize money of 10,000 yuan), the second prize (one winner, prize money of 5,000 yuan), the third prize (three winners, awarded with a smart phone each). This contest has specially set Best Original Music award and Best Screenwriting Award. Every winner of these two awarded will win a 46-inch LCD TV. The Organization Committee has also set 10 Special Organizing Awards. Winners of it will be awarded with a Duotin vehicular radio station. And the winners of Outstanding Nominated Award, 30 people, will receive a certificate given for the sake of encouragement.
