Syrian security forces find hidden explosives in Damascus
font size

Syrian security forces found a cache of arms and explosives in a raid in a neighborhood called Mezza in western Damascus where police clashed with terrorists on Tuesday evening, Syrian television reported on Wednesday.

Syria's state-run TV showed footage of a room in which rocket-propelled grenades, gas cylinders and bags of yellow powder were stored.

It said the makeshift depot was used by the same group that launched an attack in Mezza, detonating a car bomb and exchangingfire with police.

Two assailants, a policeman and a civilian woman were killed during the clashes, an official of the Interior Ministry said.

Mezza is a well-off district with several embassies.
