GULI: Fashion culture mixed with multiple elements

“Confucius said: ‘I am not bothered by the fact that I am not known, I am bothered when I do not know others,’” cited Gulnara Karimova, President of Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan Foundation when talking about Chinese culture in 2012 year-end summary of the Forum Foundation on Dec. 20, 2012, which was praised by attendees.

On Oct. 30, Gulnara Karimova presented at 2012 Beijing International Fashion Week wearing newly designed clothing of her own brand “GULI” and held a press conference for a new perfume which attracted great attention in China and abroad because of its strong ethnic characteristics and international development.

Gulnara Karimova took Beijing as the initial venue for presenting her works and found an office of Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan Foundation in Beijing with the purpose of making cultural exchanges with Chinese government and civil organizations.

Influenced by Chinese culture, Gulnara Karimova included Chinese elements in her artistic works. She said at a press conference she presented a silk long skirt with the patterns of a well-known saying from the Analects of Confucius which was highly praised by attendees. “I am very glad that GULI clothes made of silk or with silk decoration are very popular in China.”

2012 year-end summary of the Forum Foundation is an online reporting conference is a unique project that has no analogues in the world. It summed up the year in an efficient way. Every year Forum Foundation makes reports online to media on its site: www.on-line.uz.

Besides, the Forum Foundation also holds round-table conferences discussing international cooperation, culture, arts, youth and charity among other topics. The conferences attract media, young people, international organizations as well as specialists in arts, sports, education to join the discuss.

According to the 2012 year–end summary, in cooperation with other organizations the Forum Foundation has held 661 activities including 147 international projects, 93 youth activities, 106 charity programs. The Forum Foundation has granted a total of 65 million U.S. dollars to support development of adolescent education, psychological consulting, small and medium-size enterprises as well as woman entrepreneurs.
