5.3-magnitude quake hits near east coast of Honshu, Japan

TOKYO, Oct. 22 -- An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale jolted near the east coast of Honshu, Japan at 0118 GMT on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 35.21 km, was initially determined to be at 37.7049 degrees north latitude and 141.9259 degrees east longitude.
