4 officials dismissed after C China colliery accident

CHANGSHA, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Four officials have been removed from their posts over a colliery accident that killed seven miners in central China's Hunan Province, local authorities said Tuesday.

Seven miners were confirmed dead in a coal and gas outburst that occurred around 8:10 p.m. Sunday at the Gaoyan coal mine in Xiangmei Township, Yongxing County.

Four officials, including the secretary of the township's Communist Party of China committee surnamed Liu and the head of the township surnamed Huang, have been removed from office.

Further investigation into the accident is underway.
