Huang Bo! China’s new king of comedy

Huang Bo, China's new king of comedy, is also the first Movie King to have made sales of four billion at the box-office. He has done a lot of things in his time, such as dubbing in movies, teaching dance, and running a factory. Due to his rich life experience he is adept at playing "everyman". And he always touches his audiences deeply.

Huang Bo was born into an intellectual family in China's northwest Gansu Province. He went to Qingdao with his parents at the age of four. But his academic performance did not meet up to his family's expectations. The only praise that he got from his teachers was for his artistic performances at school, because he was addicted to the sound recorder at home and was always learning new songs.

When he took part in a karaoke contest, he encountered the famous actor of the time Gao Hu, and they became good friends. Gao recommended him for a role in the movie "Get in the car. Let’s go!", which would go on to change Huang Bo's destiny.

After that Huang Bo put together a band called Blue Sand, comprising himself and his childhood friend Hang Hang. Unfortunately, he met with nothing but frustration during his time in Beijing, so he went back to Qingdao and opened a factory with some friends. Huang Bo described himself as a farmer entrepreneur, who packed a briefcase. But he felt it would be a pity to give up his dreams and write off his youth as 'wasted'. He made a bold choice and decided to sit the exam for the BFA (Beijing Film Academy).

After three years, 27-year-old Huang Bo realized his dream and graduated from the BFA with a major in dubbing. He dubbed the movies Finding Nemo and Green Giant, then won acclaim for his role in the movie Crazy Stone. From then on a series of movies such as Lost in Thailand, My Dear, Heartlands, and Black & White made him the first Movie King in China to reach box-office sales of four billion.

With his unique Huang Bo style, he has become the veritable new king of comedy.
