The exhibition “A History of the World in 100 Objects” opened at the Shanghai Museum on Thursday. A hundred of the most representative objects, handpicked by the British Museum, are on display to reflect the history of the world. It is the exhibition’s second stop in China after Beijing. The objects will be on display from June 29 to October 8.
The exhibition is perhaps the most anticipated event in Shanghai this year. The public showed their enthusiasm by waiting in long lines to gain admission into the building. According to calculations by the Shanghai Museum, the average waiting time is over four hours.
One of the highlights is the 101st exhibit, a QR code composed of the 100 objects on display. It was chosen by the Shanghai Museum to show the defining technology of our time.
