Sir Elton John performed at the Mastercard Centre with his all-star band in Beijing on November 25, 2012. (CNTV)

An audience member in Beijing said, "He's an outstanding performer, I'd say one of the best in the whole world. Fantastic entertainer. And songs, he stood the test of time."

"It's very special that only in 2012 he's coming to Beijing after so many years of fame. We grew up listening to Elton John. So being in Beijing, far away from home, it's nice to have a bit of Europe in China."

John's band, which includes original drummer Nigel Olsson and long-time guitarist Davey Johnstone, have been the backbone of John's decades-long career. They supported John, balancing the detours with old favourites. John also proved that he's still capable of conveying all the required musical emotion in his vocal performance.

Rest assured the "Greatest Hits" tour is aptly named, the hits are still great.
