The 12th Fortune Global Forum, themed "China's New Future", will come to Chengdu in 2013. This is the fourth time that this world famous forum chooses a Chinese city following Shanghai, Hong Kong and Beijing.

Also in the next year, the ancient city of Xi'an will welcome a grand event, the biennial Euro-Asia Economic Forum. This important platform of dialogues between state and business leaders and scholars, established under the State Council Approval and focusing on SCO members, has made Xi'an its permanent seat since 2007.

"The world chooses us, we embrace the world". Chengdu and Xi'an, two cities in western China, are ushering in the world in a more open and confident posture.

The following is a dialogue between leaders and experts from these two cities on their concepts and practice of opening up to the outside world.
