TEHRAN, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araqchi condemned on Tuesday the bloodshed in Egypt's unrest, urging all parties to reject violence.
Talking to reporters in his weekly press briefing, Araqchi said that "the continuation of violence and bloodshed in Egypt and its repercussions for the region are the source of concerns for all the regional states and we are monitoring the issue closely."
Araqchi expressed hope that the Egyptian conflicts would be solved through democratic means so that the legitimate demands of people can be met, agreements can be reached, and tranquillity will be restored.
"We consider dialog and national reconciliation as the ways to solve the issue in Egypt," said Araqchi, adding "we hope the Egyptians do not allow the plotting hands to push the country to division and civilian clashes."
On Monday, Araqchi reiterated Iran's disapproval of the Egyptian army's recent intervention in the political affairs of the north African state, saying "the interference of military forces in the political scene is unacceptable."
The Iranian spokesperson said that Egypt is a great country in the Muslim world which has been a pioneer of many intellectual movements in the Arab and Muslim world.
Morsi was ousted by the Egyptian army on Wednesday after millions of protesters demanded his removal due to his " maladministration" since he was elected a year ago.
But supporters of the Islamist president condemned the move as conspiratory and vowed to sacrifice their lives to defend Morsi's legitimacy as leader of the country.
