London to host 2017 Paralympic Athletics World Championships

LONDON, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- London has won the right to host the 2017 Paralympic Athletics World Championships, which will be held at the Olympic Stadium.

The British capital thus has become the first city to host the World Athletics Championships and Paralympic Championships in the same year.

"We want to build on the huge success of the London 2012 Paralympics so I am delighted that the International Paralympic Committee has awarded London the honor of hosting its 2017 Athletics World Championships," said UK Minister for Sport Hugh Robertson.
