A Foreign Ministry spokesman on Tuesday said China has conducted normal exchanges with Japanese parties hours after a Japanese political leader arrived in Beijing.

"China has long maintained normal communication and exchanges with Japan's ruling and opposition parties, as well as its non-governmental organizations," spokesman Hong Lei said at a daily press briefing.

A Foreign Ministry spokesman said Tuesday that the border area between China and Myanmar is stable following the Myanmar government's announcement that it would cease fighting with the ethnic Kachin Independence Army in northern Myanmar.

"According to information from Yunnan province (in southwest China), the situation on the Chinese side of the border with Myanmar is currently stable," spokesman Hong Lei said at a daily press briefing.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said here Wednesday that the latest resolution approved by the UN Security Council on DPRK's satellite launch is "generally balanced."

The United Nations Security Council approved at early hours on Wednesday (Beijing Time) the Resolution 2087 on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's (DPRK's) satellite launch last month.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei made the appeal at a daily press briefing, when asked whether Norway's latest stance supporting China's bid for permanent observer status to the Arctic Council could be enough to improve bilateral ties.
